It's complicated. Debbie's kidney wasn't a great match for Brucia so Debbie donated her kidney to someone in St. Louis in return for which Jackie moved up the list of those who needed kidney transplants and Brucia's kidney came from San Francisco.
Why was she fired? Hard to say but I guess Brucia had her reasons.
