The Dems wanted to say it was a job interview to avoid the lady PA asking any questions. And lower the standard of possible guilt.
The Rep said, as you do in your question, because of the natural og the allegation it is more than just an job. Interview.and the accusation would mot pass the test in any court of law or even be able to achieve the granting of a warrent, etc. And of course in the USA we are all innocent until proven guilty.
