I remember that one of the local TV stations resisted going to a 10 day forecast because they thought that anything beyond 3-5 days was nothing more than a "wild-a** guess."

In management, anything beyond a 5 year plan is more dream than plan.

My point is that my parents certainly had deficits in their abilities, but since that was a problem as a result of the living of life, even other parents with "apparent" better qualifications may have been proved even worse.

Like the song says---"Every hands a winner and every hand's a loser...."

I've managed to play well the hand I was dealt.

When I was kid I was proud of my parents BUT I sometimes wished they were better schooled. Neither of them graduated from high school. One of the kids I went to high school with had a father who was a JUDGE and fairly well-known locally and I think her mom was a lawyer. For a brief period of time I wished that my parents had such credentials but I soon grew out of that. I certainly had a good childhood and my sister and I knew we were loved. Our dad was the one who comforted us. Mom was a little bit harder on us but all things considered I have no complaints. Thank you for your reply tom! :)

Apparently they had more than adequate parental credential---which was their most important job.
