I think that you're confusing manners, courtesy and civility with political correctness, which has this nation in a deadly grip that's as dangerous as any fatal disease or epidemic. We are on the verge of self destruction with our focus on word games, semantics and empty, hollow apologies for perceived slights. I see this foolish exercise as another attempt at controlling and manipulating a mostly gullible populace. One of the tragic side effects of political correctness is the creation of problems and divisiveness where none previously existed. Sadly, there are many who work diligently for the unraveling of the national fabric. This is one more of the weapons that are used.
Those who disparage it do not even know the meaning.
