They'll simply begin to come back down to earth. See him for what he is and NOT how their blindsided adoration fooled them into seeing/believing. When you're crazy in love no one can break through to you. Any criticism of your beloved makes you double down in your determination to stick by him/her no matter what. But. It always wears off.
