Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» The only logical reason for you to disagree with "news" is because you think it's lies. What kinda jerk doesn't believe what's TRUE?
This kind right here! I put NO stock into the crap the media pushes! I am perfectly capable of forming/making my own opinions/decisions. All news is someone's perception reported. All news is biased.
So you base your opinions/decisions on what then? You require no input from any sources? How is that possible Wakko? Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)
You didn't answer the question I asked you Wakko. Whether you watch or not if you don't believe any of it then what source do you believe? Information doesn't get born within you. It comes to you outside of you from other places. What are those other places that you trust enough to believe?
So other sources would be people who could be lying to you. It happens. I always check out/research everything. I never take anyone's word for anything. Do you accept what folks tell you if they're friends or relatives without checking it out for yourself? If you check out what sources are there besides what you hear and what you read? Anyway whatever works for you that makes you feel secure in what you believe is what you're gonna do. Me too. Thank you for your reply Wakko.
I'm not blind, woman. I do form my opinions on "facts" available at the time, that doesn't mean the facts are true, and I also check facts so I don't have anyone come trying to puke all in my face later.
I don't think I have ever felt that the news defined truth. At one time I guess the news was just a summary of current happenings. Like you would meet someone and want to hear what was happening with them. Then in the media it became a grab bag of entertainment hoping to appeal to the most people. Many of us still remember when newspapers had so many readers that their advertising made them voluminous. Then they figured they had such an audience they could get away with making and shaping the news. Now some people find it so entertaining or are so wired they listen to it or watch it 24/7 so they have a captive audience. But in any media the decision has to be made what will be included, what left out. So they go with what they think people most want to hear about. Then they need to decide how it will be presented, what the "spin" on it will be. Anyone who really knows what is happening in a particular situation will be able to recognize if the media gets it wrong. So you know everything has to be taken with a grain of salt. Who controls "the news", what are their beliefs, their intentions (besides to make money), who are their advertisers and underwriters? Obviously these will all affect and color what is presented. And highly partisan media has always been more the rule than the exception. I have seen papers which present a particular political point of view going way back into the 19th century.
