One(me) or some(others) cannot help but wonder WHAT IF? Every year on November 22 we ask WHAT IF?

WHAT IF John F. Kennedy had not been assassinated? What if he served 8 years as prez? WHAT IF his brother Bobby had not been assassinated? WHAT IF Bobby served as prez for 8 years. WHAT IF Martin Luther King, Jr. had not been assassinated? WHAT IF he had continued on with his marches and preaching? Would we ever have had a john of don as prez or would we have advanced and grown and evolved above and beyond whom we are now and gotten unstuck from the old ways old prejudices old hates? WHAT IF? :(

What if ... the veterans returning from WW2 started the Civil Rights Movement a decade early.

I did a short story in "Creative Writing" in college decades age, with that premise.
If only that "Greatest Generation" had realized how ridiculous it was for them to fight and die alongside someone - but then demand those people be separated in civilian society.

Of course, you could go back to the Revolutionary War (or the Indian Wars before that) and find the same thing.

That, m'dear, is among the most beautiful WHAT IF's I ever read! I'm pretty sure our world would have benefitted greatly by it...that is our United States of America world.  I bet you got an A or A+. Right? When was the "Age of Enlightenment"? Centuries ago? We are such newbies and wet behind the ears. We copycat those who came before us. Better to have had copycat-worthy role models. Why is it that the American folks who are no worse than others who are lousy elsewhere bother me more? Oh well it matters not. Thank you for your  fine reply Walt! :) This post was edited by RosieG at November 25, 2018 2:57 AM MST
