A sweeping bipartisan PRISON REFORM BILL is on the desk of the prez which he will allegedly sign! Why do prisoners get taken care of FIRST?

WHAT ABOUT OUR VETERANS? WHAT ABOUT HEALTH CARE FOR ALL OF US? Why is prison reform legislation bipartisanly a no-brainer that the prez gladly will sign when everything else is up for grabs and usually falls down and crashes and no one gives a rat's a** about it? Why are kids still locked up in cages and kennels separated from their parents when CRIMINAL prisoners now are front and center and get a break? How much more of a travesty can it be than this? Seriously folks something is very wrong in D.C. that the don of a john gets off on helping criminals as do the bipartisan pols on board but don't lift a finger to do anything about healthcare or children or immigrants or we the people.  Bah Humbag. What a bunch of crooks!  :(

    What kind of reform?

Maybe he wants it to be an easier softer place when he gets in there.

Of course, President Trump will sign it....he pushed for it. Promises Made----Promises Kept.

1 in 4 people in prison worldwide ... are in American prisons.

If part of the reforms are getting addicts into rehab rather than prison, when their only crime is drug use/possession, I would favor that.
(if they committed another crime, they should still be punished for that)

    Why is reform so important?
Because we don't have anywhere to put prisoners.  (In Oregon, 75% of convicted criminals never go to jail or prison due to lack of space.)
So we need some way to truly reform people, so they stop committing crimes.

So it's numbers then? There are more criminals than folks in need of health care or kids locked up in kennels and cages  or vets who need attention? Thank you for your reply Walt. I don't mean to be a smarta**. I would put prison reform FAR DOWN on the list of important things. That's jest me! :(

It's more that Congress can only do one thing at a time.
    That's the problem with committees.
The bigger they are, the less they can do.

(seriously.  do we need 2 Senators for each state?  wouldn't 1 do?)

I want the population of the state to dictate how many we get to represent us. Why should a state with 1/10 the population of California get the same representation? How does that make any sense Walt? You one want 1 senator per state? Seriously? That would mean 50 TRUMPICANS because nwe know how they cheat and redistrict and withhold and lie. We don't need fewer we need MORER. SIGH. Never gonna happen of course. Thank you for your reply Walt.

No, the Senate is not supposed to represent the people. They are supposed to represent the actual STATE. They were not supposed to be voted on by the people at all...they were supposed to be appointed by the governor. The House is supposed to be the voice of the People.

No, the Senate has nothing to do with gerrymandering....they are voted on by the whole state. (Should not even be voted on) But NO gerrymandering with the Senate not redistricting etc....that is all on the House side.
