I don't cook on Christmas. I am busy helping the kids and playing games with the family.

I think it bothers my Mother in law somewhat....some years she comes over and cooks a dinner for us. This year she did. We had turkey, ham, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and green beans. And brought cookies with her. She is never rude about it...she asks if I am cooking. And then says 'If you don't mind I will make something.'       I certainly don't mind.

The strangest thing I have ever had for a Christmas dinner was at my sister in laws..they had Carp and cream pea soup. Her husband was from Europe and that is a traditional holiday meal there.

Carp is a fish I've never eaten m2c. Cream pea soup is new to me too. I 'm really not a cream soup fan. I guess traditions vary radically worldwide. So if you don't cook and your MIL doesn't offer to cook what do you and your family eat on Christmas? I know the day isn't about the food. But you have to eat so do you do takeout or make sandwiches or have soup and crackers? You don't fast do you? Thank you for your reply and I hope your day was splendid. Happy Wednesday to thee m2c! :) ((hugs))

Sometimes frozen pizza. Sandwiches just something easy so I don't have to be in the kitchen all day.

I had a dinner fixed by a group of women from India.  I could not tell you the names of any of it.

    It was homemade deliciousness.

    VERY ROGUE indeed.

But we sang Christmas Carols and watched a Sai Baba Christmas 1985 (I think) video of Swami in Prashanti Nilayam.  It was a lot of fun for all.

    Here is a later version.

Once upon a time years ago when my son lived up north around San Francisco I drove up for a visit. He and his best friend took me out to an Indian Restaurant...and sadly all I could eat was the bread. There was something about the spices used that turned me off as well as the smell. I felt so bad and they felt so bad. I wish I knew what it was that made it inedible for me. I'm sure the food you listed above is quite fine and delicious . Thank you for your reply elon and Happy Wednesday to you! :) This post was edited by RosieG at December 26, 2018 9:56 AM MST
