He told the crowds what they wanted to hear because they cheered. A wall was an automatic winner so he kept it up. A big wall to go across the southern border is really ridiculous. He was as ridiculous as he had to be to get your vote. Now you are going to hold him to the ridiculous because "he said so"? Seriously? Sheesh.
