Unless someone is holding a gun to your head or threatening loved ones don't you do what pleases you? Why would you not if you could?

You do not buy books of authors you dislike. You do not go into stores who sell merchandise you neither like nor have any use for at all. That wouldn't be very smart would it? You do not spend time with people you dislike, have nothing in common with and might even abhor. Why would you waste your time like that? YET there are people who go out of their way who do just that. The question is  WHY?
