Good Morning Rosie! My husband had that years ago. His doctor gave him one injection (two components -- one anesthetic and one, we think it was a Cortisone .. just don't remember) in the bottom of his foot. After that, he has had no more issues. I think he was pretty lucky .. not sure they all heal that easily.
We went to our doctor yesterday B. He told Jim to buy some BROOKS MEN'S ADDICTION shoes and wear them all the time including indoors. Doc was wearing a pair because he has the exact same thing in the exact location as Jim! Imagine that? Also he is ordering some physical therapy for Jim and Doctor Howo said we should buy a LA CROSSE ball and while Jim sits he should roll the affected foot back and forth over it. There is a place that sells those shoes called DICK'S Sporting Goods. There is one in Murrieta, about 28 miles away. Jim is going there today. Tomorrow another big rainstorm is gonna hit. Today no rain is predicted. Doc also said that the Big 5 stores have an entire section dedicated to things relating to Plantar Fasciitis. Who knew? He did mentioned giving Jim a cortisone shot but that would be a last resort. Said it hurts a lot and usually doesn't last too long. But it CURED your husband? One injection did the job? How terrific is that? Will let you know how it goes. Thank you for your reply Mrs. C and Happy Friday to thee! :) ((hugs))
It is a tightening of the ligament. It needs to be stretched. There are exercises, boots to sleep with and even socks.
If you get it to stretch and the pain is gone, it is cured. If later it tightens again, it was not in remission. It just needs to be stretched again. As we age, our muscles don't like to move as much.
Medicine does not like to use the word "cured" for most issues. There is not "cure" for the common cold but it does not go into remission and then come back later.
Thank you for your very helpful and informative reply m2c. Doc is ordering physical therapy which will focus on stretching and he also showed Jim a stretching exercise. There are shoes made for folks with that problem and believe it or not the doc is one of them! He was wearing the shoes he recommened to Jim and they are available at Dick's sporting goods. So Jim going to one in Murrieta (about 28 miles) to check them out. Also told Jim to get LA CROSSE ball and while sitting roll his affected foot back and forth over it. He also said at Big 5 stores there is an entire section that has things relating to that condition! So it goes. Jim goes there all the time for different things and never noticed that section. Happy Friday to thee m2c! :)
