Some in the military spend the rest of their lives after war affected with PTSD. How about the dogs who serve with them?

Do animals ever get PTSD or equivalent? When they experience the horrors of war or abuse or starvation what is their afterward like? Do they have nightmares too? How can we tell what they go through since we don't speak their language?

    If there are enough animals lovers in the world, and thank GOD there are, maybe something can be done for them.

    I know little about how dogs are treated in the army.  I can only imagine.  

    If they are lucky and have a situation where they are cared for  like they should be, great, but any animal that has been that traumatized needs lots of care.

    Yes ... animals are traumatized by war.  And yes, military dogs do experience PTSD.

    Hopefully, in the near future we will be able to use technology to replace dogs ... just as we did with horses.
