It is about man who loved to read and was scolded for it by his employer and his wife. One day he decides to go down into a vault and read. At some point he comes out and goes outside and sees the destruction devastation death around him which he alone escaped. First thing he does is head for the library the steps of which are strewn with thousands of books. He smiles. He is content. He is surrounded by his beloved books and there is no one around to interrupt him. As he settles down to read he drops his glasses and they are crushed. So while he has time enough to read he can't see. A moral in there somewhere. Maybe that you don't know how good you have it until you lose it? Be happy with what you have? That maybe what you have now is all there ever will be? I dunno. Take from it what you will.
