I assume you use ergonomic mousepads with wrist rests. How often do you replace them?

I would assume you replace when they quit supporting the wrist properly or when the covering is deteriorated badly.

I don't even use a mouse pad. Lol

I'm having trouble with my right wrist m2c. The mousepad I've been using was given to me by my son over ten years ago. I'm just wondering if I get a new one if that will help.  I can't really tell if it no longer supports my wrist "properly".  Nothing appears to worn down. Looks perfectly fine but maybe the cushioning has been tamped down too much and it's time to replace it. Thank  you for your reply and Happy Wednesday. So you don't use a mouse pad with wrist rest? Huh. Okey dokey. Thanks. This post was edited by RosieG at February 13, 2019 7:40 AM MST

How many hours do you spend on the computer, Rosie?  Of course it will help, so will wrapping your wrist with a wrist band of elastic.  I think the second idea is better because you can adjust it as often as you wish.

It should cost under 10 bucks and last forever.  Just wrap it around your wrist and adjust whenever it feels uncomfortable.

Do you mean an ACE bandage Sharon? Jim wrapped my forearm and wrist with one for a couple of days. It is slightly better now. I'm taking more breaks and trying to baby it.  In addition to Answermug I spend a lot of time playing BESPELLED offline. It's like Scrabble. I'm addicted to it ! SIGH. But I hafta take it slower and easier. Thank you for your helpful reply Sharon. Today we are being BOMBARDED by driving rain. Insane. Six of the next 8 days the forecast shows rain. Never been like this ever. For the last few months we keep getting storms piggybacking on one another. We are already drenched and more to come. How is your weather? :)

I have an old desk-top model with keyboard Zack. Ancient just like me! You probably have a laptop or something way newer. I tried one of them out. My son has one. That was maybe 10 years ago! Flat 'keyboard'. Did not like it at all. SIGH. I like what I know. I like what works for me. I like simplicity. I don't care about what I'm missing out on. I don't need anything better or more and I don't want it. SIGH. Thank you for your reply and Happy Valentine's Day Thursday to you! :) This post was edited by RosieG at February 14, 2019 4:14 AM MST

  • I have a laptop so I use the buit-in mouse. Sometimes it acts up, so I have a cordless mouse nearby. I don't use ego anything.  When I was working I didn't use anything ergo either - I found those contraptions to be too awkward, and they slowed me down too much.    However, I did end up with a cyst on my wrist, probably because I refused the ergo stuff.   Once I retired, the cyst disappeared.

I tried out my son's laptop maybe 10 years ago and didn't like it one bit. Flat "keyboard". Sheesh. Give me that old-fashioned simple typewriter keyboard.  I have a swelling on my right wrist directly below my thumb. I'm right-handed. Maybe it's a cyst. I dunno. It feels a little better today. I'm taking more breaks and treating it very gently.  I like what I know lavender. I don't need 'new and improved'. Thank you for your reply and Happy Valentine's Day Thursday to you m'dear!  :)

  • It very possibly can be a ganglion cyst like mine.   Mine tends to come and go, depending on how much I am typing.   When I take a break long enough, it decreases and feels much better.     I miss the old typewriters, to be honest. I loved the sound they made. It was very relaxing to me, and of all the classes I had in high school, typing was my favorite.     I enjoyed Shorthand too. Hard to believe in 1980 they actually offered that in school.  It doesn't seem that long ago really, but it is.    Happy Valentine's Day to you, Rosie.  Your name is perfect for the day, by they way.  I hope you enjoy.

Nope.  Never had to.  Right now I am sitting in a Laz-Y Boy at half-mast.   I have it half up and my keyboard is in my lap.   My monitor is on a chair beside my Laz-Y Boy, and my mouse is on that chair.

    LOL

But nothing is sore and nothing hurts.

That's very good Sharon. Keep it up! Thank you for your reply sweetie! :) Usually nothing hurts on me too neither. But this wrist thing does...though less than it did a couple of days ago. The older you get the longer it takes things to heal. Gonna ask!  :)
