Just when you get comfy with someone and are pretty sure you know how he/she is wired you find out boy were you ever wrong! How can that be?
Did you not pay attention to the clues? Did the person change for some reason? Did YOU change and not realize it? It's very confusing and sometimes unsettling. I guess "that's life"! :)
