The Senate used to be a courtly courteous body. They referred to one another as "distinguished" or "honorable" Senators. Today?

When was the last time you heard the words DISTINGUISHED or HONORABLE mentioned by any Senator about any Senator?

  • Well, if you look at what "we the people" are sending to Washington, is it any wonder? "Distinguished"? Hardly. "Honorable" ? That train jumped the track long ago. They have contempt for each other because they have contempt for us. Our institutions are taking on a resemblance to who we are as a society and the sad truth is, that we're becoming a rather cheap, sleazy sideshow where once we were the greatest show on earth.

Well DA I find nothing in your reply with which I can argue or to which I can take exception. I think you hit the nail on the head. So I'm gonna push my luck with you and ask you WHY is that? What happened to us and when? What can we do to reverse the trend? Did we only temporarily lose our way or are we lost forever? Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday.
