How would you answer your kids if they asked you how you could have said what you said, done what you did, supported such a person?

What if they looked down on your for having traveled the path you did and think less of you for having done so? Could you handle it? Would you attack THEM for it for questioning your judgment? Not a happy circumstance to be sure. Has it ever happened so far?
