Excluding loved ones and children. I'm talking about COMPLETE STRANGERS. The person talks to the receptionist. You make eye contact. You chat and find an astonishing person there.
It happened to me last week. Her name was Sheila. She limped rather badly. She was kinda short and not too slim but her smile was enormously engaging. We chatted only a few minutes.
She was in the military for 20 years. That was where she got the injury that caused the limp. She was a teacher for 10 years. She is very involved in her community and believes in giving back and fills her days with doing things to help. People, animals. She will always be etched in my memory. A very dynamic woman. Very strong and very confident but not the least bit off-putting or intimidating. Very charming and engaging personality. She told me a little bit about her husband. He is very imposing and not at all outgoing so he sometimes intimidated people without ever saying a word. But she said he a pussycat. Soft and cuddlyg and wouldn't ever hurt anyone. You know me. I kept her busy answering the questions I was asking her which she did very graciously and enthusiastically.
How many people have you met that made an indelible impression on you whom you never saw again?
