I don't know of any movie I've seen, where I could blame the disappointment on a particular actor. It seems to always be the writing, to me. Example: I enjoy StarTrek. I didn't enjoy the first "new" one, as it relied too much on re-writing older movies and just adding more special effects. But the actors did a fine job.
I'd blame the director more than the actors. It's their job to get the best performance out of everyone. If an actor isn't "up to par", it's the fault of the director.
I can't think of a specific example myself Walt so here's what I mean. There is a certain spark or electricity among actors. Take Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. Of course in real life they had a life-long love affair and on screen they were totally believable. Quite often when we're watching a movie or TV show we think the casting was all wrong. They don't click or spark or have any chemistry at all. We just don't believe what they are portraying on screen. You see that in real life all the time. I'm sure you've experienced it at one time or another. It is an indefinable something that people either have or don't. It isn't only with regard to romantic relationships. I mean there are some friendships that don't seem believable either. Thank you for your reply! :)
