YOU HAVE TO RESPECT ALL VIEWS. OK. Fair enough. That would include the views of those who don't! Right?

That is THEIR view, part of the "all" in the rule.

So what's the problem then? Why do some folks get chastised for not respecting the views of those who don't respect others' views since those are THEIR views?

Making a problem out of something that isn't one makes no sense. Why do people do it? Anyone?

    I disagree with the premise.
    Respect is earned ... doesn't matter whether it's an individual or an ideology/philosophy.
    And it doesn't always cross over. 
    I may respect an ideology, but disrespect an individual who holds it.
    Or I may respect an individual, but not the ideology they espouse.  (even though I can acknowledge if they argue it eloquently)

    So ... "No", we don't have to respect all views.


    Now, if somebody claims we have to respect all views ... then THEY better do so, or they are throwing stones while living in a glass house.

    That is one of the rules here Walt. You must respect all views. But the ALL should include those who don't. That is also  a view. So once again is rule is gibberish because it does not live up to the press. If you RESPECT ALL VIEWS you must OF NECESSITY respect the views of those who don't respect all views. It isn't that hard to grasp. I do not see what the problem is. Make a rule and LIVE UP TO IT. How hard is that to do? Sheesh. Over and over and over logic is absent. It is very annoying. Thank you for your reply.

    Don't tell anybody ... but I didn't read the rules.  
    In fact, I never read the rules of forums or websites I'm on.
    IMO, they're like EULA agreements ... too much mumbo-jumbo and legalese.
