Some folks are PARSERS. They always focus on the lint and not that upon which the lint sits. Because?

They avoid the main dish and focus  attention on a condiment. The part that's irrelevant  most folks discard or ignore like a decorative piece of parsley.  What is so fascinating about lint that they prefer to focus on it often and vigorously?
