Is it safe to converse using earphones on a cellphone while it's being charged?

Many cases have been reported of people talking with their ears in contact with the device being electrocuted.

    Sounds like the reports of electrocution are mere guesses by somebody being interviewed, and the media runs with it because of sensationalism.

    That sounds very much like someone somewhere generating a scare. A shock severe enough to injure or kill would require a major and highly unlikely fault in the equipment.
