Think I'll pass.  The nearest Ben and Jerry's is well over 100 miles from here.

I'm m not a huge fan of ice cream.  When I do eat it, I prefer vanilla (microwaved for 38 seconds so it's nice and soft)

I cannot tell you how uninterested I am in saving a few cents to get a free anything.  UGH.  Standing in line for free food when I can pay a few bucks somewhere else and not wait is just ludicrous to me.  I am not CHEAP and desperate and penny wise and pound foolish.

I know it is fun for some and why not?  It is a fun afternoon if you have a friend with nothing to do.  I am talking about the goons who gotta have anything that is FREE.  I had an aunt that used to take anything from anywhere that was not nailed down.  She had MONEY too. It was pathetic to me.  She would volunteer at food banks so she could get some free food.  People like that disgust me.

Different strokes Sharon. You have a unique perspective on things which defines you. We have a restaurant in Hemet named RED ROBIN. They had a GRAND OPENING and invited the entire town to a FREE MEAL on them! So we went and it was so much fun! It was like having a block party. We saw neighbors sitting at tables and while there were certain restrictions to what we could order our "bill" was almost $28! Which of course we did not have to pay since we were their GUESTS. As we dined employees strolled  through the restaurant offering us freshly baked chocolate chip cookies or shakes or other item menus. It was their soft rollout and we were the canaries down in the mine. FREE everything. Of course after that when friends/family came to visit guess where we took them to eat? The investment of the restaurant in GOOD WILL paid them back many times over. So you see FREE can be fun and not because people are cheap or disgusting. Thank you for your reply! You are unique. Yes I would have had fun too, if it was for that reason. A celebration, not just to grab a free thing.  That was a fun event.   If you read me correctly I DID NOT SAY THAT. GOD.  I don't think that.  You chose to pick out that point and run with it.  I made a clear distinction between mindless greed for anything free and a fun event.

Standing in line for two blocks to get a free sandwich at Jimmy John's because it is free, is not the same as going to an event with friends and everything is paid for. WHY WOULD YOU EVEN THINK I WOULD SAY THAT?

I agree. I am not all that weird, honestly.  (okay I am) This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at April 10, 2019 5:09 AM MDT

No has been many years since I had ice cream and I have learned to my benefit to do without it.

I completely understand Sharon's point of view. Many people develop that mindset where   free = good.  So if it is free it must be good.  And they are willing to consume all sorts of junk only because they can get it free.  And of course why do places give out free samples?  Advertising.  And to try and get people hooked so they become regular customers.  I would rather spend a little money on what I know is good for me than load up on what I know is not just because it is free.
