Puzzling. Some folks seem "happier" when they are fighting others. When things are going very well they will purposely start something. WHY?

Once upon a time very long ago I was married to a guy like that. At first I couldn't figure it out. It started several years after we got married. Well I left because I don't enjoy fighting or arguing or defending. Not my cuppa tea. Why are there folks who seem to do better amidst strife and discord than they do when life is just a bowl of pitless cherries? Psychologically what is going on? Do they think they don't deserve being happy?

That is their comfort zone.  When you pick up a nasty habit like cigarettes or anger, it is hard to let it go.
