Only THE VERY BRAVE upend their lives to seek a better somewhere else for their children and move to a different country. Would you?

Or even to a different state? My grandparents brought my parents to this country to escape from the Turkish attempt to wipe out the Armenian people on death marches. They murdered 1.5 million Armenians on those death marches but we are still here. They did NOT achieve their goal. My grandparents and parents embraced their new country and became naturalized citizens. My dad did three tours in the Marines. You could not find MORE PATRIOTIC AMERICAN CITIZENS than they were.

Flash forward. My parents met and married and had me. I was born in Highland Park, Michigan a suburb of Detroit. When I was 3 my parents wanted to give ME a better life and we moved to California where opportunities for work were many at that time. The weather was so much better and my dad was very weary of shoveling snow.He also had a wealthy cousin living here who invited them to move out here. I vaguely recall staying with them till we got an apartment. Eventually my dad got a good job and my parents bought the home in which I lived till I got married. I AM FIRST GENERATION AMERICAN.

I expect my story is just like millions of other stories. Brave people who want "better" for their families move to somewhere else for that purpose. Do you blame them? Are you one of them? What would YOU do if the lives of your children were at stake? Stay where you are and let fate take over or would you be proactive and do something to change things?

I think all immigrants are very brave. They are also very smart. If they weren't they'd either roll over and  become one with the enemy or die.   That some vilify them and  lock up their children in animal cages is very shocking to me. It is an illogical cruel hateful and inhuman reaction to a very human tragedy.

Who among you are FIRST GENERATION AMERICANS?

Yes, but I would follow the laws while doing so. It is not a help for a child to have to hide in the shadows of a country.
To not be able to work without committing a crime. Just leads to abuse of both the child and the parent by criminals and employers etc.
