Were you relieved when your "school days" ended because you were never that much "into" it? Did you stop learning then?
Did you close that door forever more because you did not want anything to encroach on or change your belief system? Afraid that new information/knowledge would shake your world so you closed up shop tuned out shut off and are now coasting?
