Definitely. I'd also want to know if they had already paid the "hit man". If they hadn't, I could take them out first ... which would put an end to the hit, since there wouldn't be anybody to pay for it. If they had, I'd have to take out at least 2 people.
That depends on what definition of "vigilante" you are using.
In the original usage, it was basically a neighborhood watch. Volunteers who stood "vigilant" against criminals or invaders.
Later, it became someone who took the law into their own hands. Or pretended to.
But neither applies to my answer, here. If someone is going to put out a contract to have you killed, it is self-defense to kill them (and the "hit man").
I would need to know so I can stop them. I have to notify the cops. I have to have someone go underground and offer to be the hit man and really be a cop. I need the cop hit man to take the money from the one who is paying; and I cannot do this if I don't know who it is. Or at least have the law help me.

In this day and age in the reign of Dondonjohn there is no law Sharon. The cops could be crooked and on the take from Dondonjohn. Remember he said he has the military, the police and bikers watching his back. Why would he lie? Thank you for your reply! :)
Oh, I see, Rosie. You and I are composing the script to this horror movie and you are now fleshing it out with more truths. I forgot the reality of the REAL horror story for a minute. Thanks for giving me the reality slap I needed. We have no law with DON. I lost focus for a second.
I think I mentioned on here before that I might have been on one---and I was so advised of that possibility.
Yes, I think knowing that allows one to exercise a reasonable amount of additional caution that may minimize the ease by which those involved try to accomplish their task.
