Ever go back to a place you had enjoyed so much and found it was gone? A parking lot had replaced it or something else? How did you react?

After 5 years of living in Massachusetts we came back to California and among the places we visited was a favorite seafood restaurant. We went to the place it used to be. A parking lot for a strip mall. That was many decades ago and I still feel the loss. Did you lose a memory too?
