I have "met" a number of military personnel on the internet because I was sending them care packages while they were deployed. I have actually met three of them in person and I was not at all disappointed in any of them.
That's awesome L! Don't know if I told you this before but in October of 2007 we Answerbaggers had a get-together at the home of Stable Boy lived in Yorba Linda, California. One gal flew in from ENGLAND for it! We had a couple of New Yorker's and several from other states and then we Californians too. My son who had moved to Honolulu flew in for it too! So I got to meet a few of the folks with whom I had chatted! It was very nice. There was some attempt as I recall for those on the east coast to get together but that fell through for whatever reason. Don't know if any Answermuggers get together. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)
We did L. Of course I can only speak for myself but everyone seemed to get along. We kinda took turns chatting with everyone and then we kinda settled in with those with whom we had the most conversations on the site. I remember a gal named SciFiSue. She and I really hit if off bigtime but I enjoyed meeting everyone there face-to-face. A really nice memory to have. I don't know how it would go today with prodons and antidons. I think we'd just have to have separate gatherings. Who wants to go out of your way to do nothing but argue with someone? No one! Thank you for your reply! :)
Oh I have met some of them but inevitable did not turn out so well for various reasons. So I don't care to meet any more. Communication over the net is very deceptive - your feeling naturally pull you close to someone but really you can't know very much about them just on the net. So you tend to invent the rest I guess out of wishful thinking. Then of course on meeting you are disappointed.
