I think the USA is a decade ahead of what we know is out there, as far as gadgets/software.
But one of the advantages China/Russia has ... is they don't need permission to invade privacy. For example: China has a city so covered with cameras, that they can track someone down by facial recognition in about 3 minutes. You would never be able to do that in the US, even though they are public areas. The political backlash would be too great.
What we should be worrying about, is what I call "The Cylon Option". Where our enemies can hack our military equipment (drones, tanks, ships, etc) and take control of weapon systems.
So the US is SMART and invents everything. Other countries steal from us and use it against us? Wouldn't that make them SMARTER? They don't have to do anything except wait for us to invent and then they POUNCE and steal/take/ utilize it? I dunno E. That makes us patsies. Sitting ducks. Working our butts off inventing stuff that is then turned against us? And we keep doing it? Isn't that a definition of insanity? Have we ever stolen anything and used it against the inventor?
