Is it brave or unwise to venture beyond your depth? Maybe you don't know what your depth is until you drown . Too late then. How do YOU keep from drowning?

    Thank you Lucia for the compliment. I'm a late bloomer. I didn't learn how to swim till I was 35! I'm not a strong swimmer so I NEVER swim in the ocean. In a pool I visualize myself as being Esther Williams...a very old Esther Williams. I swim and float languidly and slowly and see in my mind some of the movies she made! I do have a very good imagination! Oh. Sad note. A kid who was in my graduating class in high school  was a very good swimmer  and drowned at the beach due to riptides. He was swimming alone I think. His name was Lee and I will never forget him. So you're absolutely right. It depends on the strength of the current and the pull on your legs. Even a very good swimmer has to be careful .
