I believe the Founders actually planned for such a thing.
If the President neither signs nor vetoes a bill within 10 days of receipt, the bill goes into law.
And I'm sure nobody will care if he doesn't send the military somewhere new.

I'm surprised that anyone who thinks he's doing a bad job would get upset with his threat not to continue doing so.

There will never be a bill. You know better than that. The House will prepare one and pass it. Then it goes to the Senate. The toady sycophant trumpican majority led by that wackadoodle doofussbrain will never bring it to the floor for a vote. It will die in utero. So much for your scenario. Ain't gonna happen on the Mitch's watch no way no how no time. I am not surprised at anything the sb prez does or does not do. I am saying that REFUSING to do his job out of some petulant girlyman hysterical snit surely is not something you can live with is it? I personally don't care one way or the other Walt. I have no control over any of it. I just read about, report on and ask about it. Thank you for y our reply. Be unsurprised. Like me. Easier on the emotions. I always vote for a gridlocked Congress, anyway.

If the public isn't demanding BOTH sides of the aisle work together on an issue - the public doesn't care enough for Congress to be messing with it.  Sure, it's cynical.  But it seems to be the best way to keep them from trying to micromanage our lives.

No disrespect intended to you Walt but you LIKE gridlock? That means they get their paychecks and bennies and never have to do a dam* thing for we the people? I can't buy into that. I liked the old ways where they reached across the aisle and actually did work for the people. During both Nixon and Clinton impeachment days Dems and the GOP worked together to pass legislation which both presidents SIGNED. There was no DRAMA QUEEN idiotman controlling everything nor were there braindead toady sycophants who were spineless and terrified of their shadows. I'd like those  days back again. Fat chance. Thank you for your reply! :)

When you look at a lot of the legislation that they pass ... or even the state legislatures ... it's more "feel good" that doesn't do anything  but "preach to the choir" than anything that actually DOES something.

I got to agree with you there Walt and I never do that. The part about not demanding it enough, but then again all anyone will do is ignore the masses. This post was edited by Zack at May 23, 2019 7:56 AM MDT

The problem is that McConnell will not bring any of the bills up for a vote.  In effect, he is obstructing and preventing the ability of Congress to do its job.

That has been a long-standing problem even before Trump.

That would be correct.  Boehner was the same kind of obstructionist.  Frankly, anyone not willing to do their job should stop being paid.
