It dives down due to investor uncertainty and bubbles back up if and when that uncertainty is removed and the issue proves not to be a negative.

But the uncertainty has not been removed at all L. It continues to grow yet the market bounces up and down even so. I don't get it! Glad I'm not in it. Years ago I got bitten so I don't trust it. Thank you for your reply! :)

I guess I should have said the immediate uncertainty.  Also, savvy investors buy when a stock goes down.  When investors start buying, the price goes up.  I have been in the market for a long time.  You need to have a diverse portfolio.  Some investments are safer than others.  Naturally, like many others, when the recession hit in 2008, I took a major hit, but it has come back up and I've made some good choices in what I bought when it was low.
