Empty words and money win elections. Momeny, and lies win re-elections.
Listen to the candidates. A majority of the promises they make are not feasible to keep. Some even contradict each other. A candidates promises go with whatever crowd they're addressing at the time (Hillary was a prime example of this). If a candidate is talking to the poor, they promise jobs and prosperity... paid for by taxing the rich. If they're addressing parents, they promise better schools by taxing the rich. If they're talking to the rich, they promise lower taxes. They promise to clean up pollution and also to increase jobs by building more factories. They promise to reduce government spending by creating new bureaucratic offices and positions. And the people vote for them. How much money do candidates spend trying to get elected? Forget any "limitations" that may be imposed. They know all too well how to circumvent those. How many poor candidates do you see running? How many of the candidates who spend the least amount of money ever win? Darn few if any.
The first thing a politician does when they get into office is start raising money for their re-election. That means their first concern is money and themselves. How many politicians spin their activities to make it appear if their actions (good or bad) were "for the benefit of the people"? "I didn't vote on those 25 bills because I was previously engaged in a project concerning a variety of solar issues; issues which could be economically vital to the constituents in mydistrict." Translation - I couldn't be bothered with showing up to do my job because I was in Hawaii getting a tan".
I guess "momeny" is typo Shuhak. I looked it up and it's not in my dictionary. Setting that aside...you paint a very bleak picture. I was thrilled to vote for JFK. Thrilled to vote for Barack Obama. I have always voted but those were the two highpoints of my voting life emotionally. Voting for Hillary was my least favorite vote but there was no way in He** I was gonna "waste" my vote though I did toy with voting for the Green Party Candidate. As it turns out even though she won the popular vote by almost THREE MILLION VOTES I wasted my vote because the fix was in. This time the field is very exciting. Mayor Pete could be my grandson agewise and I would be PROUD to vote for him! Kamala Harris is so smart . I'd be honored to vote for her. I'm sure there are others among the Dems who are candidates I could be very happy voting for. But if the fix is in and Russia is still a big player and all the red state guvs are making sure those who vote Dem have a very DIFFICULT time trying to do so..well, the conclusion is it won't matter at all again. So do I not vote? I can't not vote. I am a first general American and my parents would roll over in their graves if I did that. So I can't. I just hope to he** I can be excited about for whom I voted. Beyond that it's in the hands of God or the ether or unknown entities working for/against good. SIGH. Thank you for your thoughtful reply Shuhak! :)
Uh... uh... momeny is cash you get from your mother? That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :) (I'm kidding). Yes, it was a typo. I'm a terrible typer. I swear that I spend more time fixing my spelling mistakes than I do writing. Somehow that one got past google spell check.
What word should it be Shuhak? Apologies but I'm flummoxed. Oh. Wait a darn minit! You men MONEY right? I usually guess what's meant and I NEVER correct folks if I know what they mean. As for spelling no matter how many times I read and re-read what I write after I've posted it and go back to respond to a reply I ALMOST ALWAYS find something I gotta fix. I never used to have that problem. I guess when I read and re-read my eyes "see" what I want to be there and not what is actually there! It annoys the heck outta me but I guess I'm stuck with me being that way now! Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)
