If the DNA of a defective fetus can be changed in utero will that change hold forever more in any of its children?

If an unattractive couple have plastic surgery they can change their appearance drastically. But they will have children whose DNA reflects their and thus produce unattractive children perhaps. When they do don't they doom those children to having plastic surgery too? Is it a kindness or does it put too much emphasis on the value of appearance?

You can plastic surgery away the surface but you cannot operate on character morals or integrity. Would you like to be able to do so? Go under the knife as an SOB and become the person you'd like to be? Not an SOB but everyone's cuppa tea?

Surgery or pills. We rely on them to make us whole. To help us get through life. Crutches?  Booz sex religion. Crutches too?

    I believe that if the DNA of a fetus is changed, that will be passed down.
    Unless an "unexpected consequence" of the change is to render the individual sterile.

    Do you think that is "playing God" and ought NOT EVER be done even if it saves the baby from a life of pain and despair? Could unscrupulous money-hungry greedy SOB's screw around with DNA to produce monstrous individuals without feeling or morals? How specific is our knowledge of DNA? Do we KNOW which DNA controls which traits characteristics? Imagine vicious bigoted racist hatemongers changing DNA in utero. What would stop them from creating a species filled with hatred at birth? Slippery slope? Thank you for your reply Walt!  :)

    I imagine it will be like personal computers.
    The government will be the first with access to the technology ... and probably weaponize it.
    I imagine it will be along the line of: "Just look at all these unwanted children, now that abortion is illegal.  We'll take care of the mothers and children (with a little DNA manipulation to create super soldiers/spies)."
    Then when the process is widely understood and becomes cheaper, we will have DIY DNA-alteration kits.
    "Want your kids to have green eyes?  We have a kit for that."

    Wow! That word represents HORROR and AMAZEMENT simultaneously on my part Walt. But it will be for the obscenely wealthy only, right? Your ordinary everyday average typical homo sap won't be able to afford that luxury! Unless it becomes generic and very cheap in which case wouldn't all buyers "fix" their kids' DNA to be obscenely wealthy SOB's? The permutations and iterations and possibilities are endless aren't they? So are the means through which/by which you would promulgate the sale. Oh boy. BRAVE NEW WORLD! What kinda bloke/blokess d'ya see IN CHARGE of that world? Thank you for your reply Walt!   :)
