I love meteorology.  I've been keeping weather journals since 1978 (got a bookcase full them).  I also  have one of those fancy weather stations on the roof of my house.  I've got all sorts of weather instruments (barometers, thermometers, etc.) in nearly every room of the house as well as in the garage (I have more thermometers than clocks).

I also like geology.  I have  a yard full of "rocks" that were collected over the years (some large, some small).   When I went hiking I used to be able to name just about every rock on sight.  Unfortunately, I'm a bit rusty at it now.

The most futile ology is astrology.  Utter foolishness!  How can one think that the position of stars and planets, when viewed from an specific location, can tell their future?   Stars are simply a  coalescence of gas bound by gravitational forces. (did I mention I'm into astronomy too?) This post was edited by Shuhak at June 6, 2019 3:43 AM MDT

Nifty reply Shuhak for which I thank you. My Jim has a bazillion thermometers in our fridges and freezers and in our house. He always wants to KNOW at any given moment what the temperature is and he compares them to determine if they agree. At first I thought that was a very eccentric thing to do but ya know what? I caught that bug and so I'm just as "eccentric". First thing I do each day is Google "Hemet weather". I keep track of the 8-day forecasts and each morning I show what we should expect and then we wait and see if it actually happens. I used to love collecting shells at the beach or beautiful smooth stones. I think Archaeology would be a gas as a profession. Can you imagine going to a dig and actually finding something that was used by folks thousands of years ago? That would be such a high! I disagree with you about the most foolish ology. I think trumpology is by far the most futile useless damaging horrific ology there ever was is or will be. Just my personal opinion. I know it was not on my list specifically but you see all the ones  that DO apply to him tangentially on that list. Treasonoloy traitorology which is what he commits and is 24/7. How we get rid of him I cannot say but day by day he is doing more damage to what used to be the great and grand and glorious United States of America. Sigh.

The first thing I do is go to the NWS site (National Weather Service) to get the daily briefing.  Then I'm off to Windy Maps where I run through numerous maps of several different computer weather models (the ones used to make forecasts).  I then check the interactive satellite/radar (and more) on Intellicast.  Then I check the Climate Prediction Center which gives a detailed summary of the next 14 days as well as numerous charts.  (In the winter I check the Atmospheric River forecast site.)   I do this every day.  (I'm REALLY into weather)
