To all normal sane guys/gals out there would any of you ALLOW your mate to tell you what cable news station(s) you could watch? Why?

Allegedly on Air Force One awhile ago Melania was watching a cable news station NOT FAUX NEWS and the sb prez went ballistic and ordered that all TV's on the plane be turned on to FAUX news only!

Are any of you so spineless and terrified of your mate you would roll over whimpering and do what you were ORDERED to do? Seriously? If so what the he** is WRONG with you and why are you with someone you fear in the first place?

I watch what I want. But I will change the channel for my husband....I know there are shows/channels he just does not like. He does the same for me. It is called being courteous to your spouse.

There's a difference between changing the channel to accommodate a spouse and being ordered not to watch something.

Did I say there was not? I said how it works in my house.

    That wasn't the question.

The question was 'would I allow my mate to tell me which cable news stations to watch?'

My answer tells how it works in my house. That is the answer to the question.

There are programs that either one of use would tell the other to turn off...

  • The question is open to interpretation, that is, if it's in fact a question and not a riddle. The question did not define or elaborate on what is "normal" or "sane". Is there an implication that only a portion of respondents fall into the category of "sane and normal"? Or was it assumed that all were sane. The questioner may not in fact fall into the generalization of "sane and normal". In which case, the question could be left alone by those claiming sanity. My wife (of 38 years) and I seem to fall into the group entitled, "Great minds think alike". It's never been necessary for us to tell each other what to watch. We just naturally gravitate to the truth and those who espouse it. Of course, most of the rooms in our house have a TV, so it's never really a problem. Even if we disagreed philosophically, neither of us would demand that a certain channel be watched. I understood your response and I didn't have to tune in CNN or MSNBC for a "factual" explanation.

Yes my husband and I are similar.  We have similar tastes as well.  I do tend to watch all the news channels. My husband does not like some of the others....they aggravate him when they lie. I watch so I know what the other side is saying. So I do not watch the other news channels when he is watching.

The one time I can think of telling the other to change the channel...was because something had came on and the other was not paying attention and it was just on.  I believe we were watching 'Gold Rush' and then 'Naked And Afraid' came on.  I remember coming back into the room and asking "What are you watching?"  He was not watching... it had just come on.
