I wonder how many people don't vote due to religioius reasons? Don't some religions forbid adherents from participating in government?

Does yours? Could it be multiple millions who stay away from engaging with or interacting with the normal things citizens are SUPPOSED TO DO?

If everyone who were eligible to vote actually voted wouldn't that be the ideal YOU would like to see? That way every citizen gets a chance to speak via his/her vote. Isn't that a good thing?

I do not know. I know Jehovah's Witnesses do not vote.

But no I do not want everyone voting. I want people who care enough to know what/who they are voting for to vote. I do not think there should be a test or anything like that just if you plan to vote know your issues.

I have seen people I known for years...I know what they believe on issues turn around and vote for someone because of being from their home state, he rolled his sleeves up (he is just like us), I just do not like the sound of his voice....just vote on the issues and know where each candidate stands. The rest means nothing.

One thing you neglected to mention which is crucially important. Are the issues real or just lied about to get your vote and once you do vote the person in he never comes through for you? You were needed to get him elected and then whatever he does or doesn't do you stick to him like glue and make excuses for his lack of performance. That's what I see looking in from outside m2c. Thank you for your reply! :) This post was edited by RosieG at June 9, 2019 6:18 AM MDT

True politicians do have a tendency to lie. That is also a part of knowing your issues and where the candidates stand. You should also look at their history. Newbies you just have to take their word or not until there have a voting history to back their stances.
But it is a good chance if they are promising a bunch of free stuff...it is just fluff.
As far as President Trump goes he has done or at least tried to do the things he promised during the campaign. I do not care about his style of getting it done. We knew he was not a polished politician when we elected him.  This post was edited by my2cents at June 9, 2019 6:46 AM MDT
