How to put stuff in inventory in Minecraft on Xbox One ?

I just got Minecraft for Xbox One I'm trying to figure out how to put stuff in inventory. I've hit every button there is it won't let me do nothing I'm playing in Survival Mode. How do I drag and put stuff into inventory in Minecraft ?
