I would say ... in general ... women tend to stay in humiliating/abusive relations longer than men. Why? Because they tend to think they can change the person. Or she thinks it's the only person who will "be with" her.
I don't know. Why is there a certain type of woman who tries to start a relationship with serial killers, murderers, rapists, etc - who are spending decades in prison (or are on death row)?
Why are females attracted to "the bad boy" type? And why do some not outgrow it, so they wind up in abusive relationships?
That has always perplexed me too Walt. Women who write to murderers in prison and sometimes marry them. How screwed up must the head of such a person? Or women who correspond with criminals who get out and then proceed to swindle them or worse? These women have a very low or non-existent opinion of themselves. So too do women who are drawn to abusive men. So too do women who stay in those relationships. I can't figger it out and I always feel so bad for the children. They grow up with a skewed idea of how women should be treated and sometimes the boys carry forward that family tradition as adults when they have families. And so on and so on and so on. Thank you for your thoughtful reply Walt. My mom was drawn to the bad boy tough guy in movies. She liked CHARLES BRONSON. Me? I fell for Humphrey Bogart (Casablanca) when I was 3 and am still devoted to him. Go figger!
