Here's a possibility. They are testing how gullible folks are. They are testing their POWER over others and go as far as they can to see if they can trick them con them scam them without their noticing. A show of power/control over others.
It further enhances them in their own eyes that they can tell the wildest most absurd erratic unbelievable lies with proof available otherwise that contradicts it and STILL the folks they target believe them and not the truth proof evidence facts. It solidifies their power and command in their own eyes.
Why else lie for no reason? That would be an insane thing to do. On the other hand who says liars are all sane? Some are ignorant stupid inane. Some aren't but still they lie and we cannot fathom why. Mebbe we can and do.
Well you can't test your power over others often enough. You must repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat to make you you are not losing your touch and that all the "true believers" out there are still with ya.
