Are art and commerce inextricably linked? Is there no longer such a thing as "ars gratia artis"... art for art's sake? Must everything be evaluated by what it's worth dollarwise? Why?

Put a price tag on it. As much as the market will bear. That is its value. There is no value beyond what people are willing to pay for something. Or so it seems.
