A talking head said the sb prez economy isn't working for everyone. There are three areas where it isn't. Agree?

African Americans
Manufacturing
Rural America

The talking head said the most desirable jobs are found in BIG CITIES so rural folks are out of luck. Manufacturing is still hurting and African Americans on average earn 16% less than whites for the same jobs.

So if any of you are in one of those three categories and disagree please speak up.

Other than manufacturing ... the same has been true of the economy since the 1860s.

It's been true for manufacturing since the 1980s (at least), from what I recall.

If someone wants a high-demand job, they need to get in health care (which has a global shortage of workers).

Do you think it is an Impossible Dream to have an economy equally good for everyone? Or good relative and always at the expense of others? I like that. I shall ask. Thank you for your reply Walt!

    I think it's unrealistic.
There will always be people who are poor, due to their own shortcomings.
IE: There will always be school dropouts, who can't get a job other than minimum wage.
Or people who are unable to work, for whatever reason.

The trick is to have as few of those people as possible.
America tries by providing a free education through high school.
But that's obviously not enough, given the generations of racism and bigotry and sexism this country has experienced.  Thus the question of "reparations" - and how to aide people out of poverty.

Personally, I think it should be done through career training.  We can predict what trades are going to be short in the next decades, so let's guide people to those areas while they're still in high school ... rather than saying "Here's your diploma, now go forth" and leaving it entirely up to kids as to planning their future careers.  I'm not saying force people to go into certain careers.  Just give them a better idea of what will be needed, and what education they need to fill those "gaps".  Maybe offer incentives to work those jobs (forgiveness of student loans over time worked in the job).
