Is your cat like that? Other than the tufts on this one's ears, she looks just like this.

I don't know much about cats, but I suspect they, like some humans, like the heat.  Supposedly, their fur keeps them cool in summer and warm in winter.  Dogs will usually look for the shade, but still don't seem to mind being outdoors when it's very hot.

I forgot to mention that she dislikes the sun, just as I do.

Well, apparently she likes the heat - even though she may not be in the sun.

Right. She is lying on the shady front porch and won't come in. She stayed out all night last night. (Don't tell my wife.)

My sister's pups do the same thing.  They can lie in the shade for hours no matter how hot it is.

if your cat looks like that she prob shedded her thick undercoat, the rest of her fur just helps as a body temp regulator, plus she'll groom herself which works the same way sweat on humans does. cats are smart. if you're super worried about her overheating put a bowl of water outside with some ice cubes in it

Yeah, she sheds constantly and gets a daily brushing.

I had a cat who'd lay in the window behind the blinds in the full sun - all summer long.   That window reached well into the 100's.  i always thought she'd cook herself in there.

Cats love heat and will actively seek it out (heater vents, sunny spots, etc,.)  I Have a cat who, in the winter and spring, will find a sunny spot on the floor and then demand that I put a chair there for him.  not only that, but I must constantly move the chair to follow the sun (he's quite vocal on that one).  Maybe i've seen too many science fiction movies, but sometimes i think our feline overlords are reptiles in disguise.

Gorgeous cat! I don't have one, but one of my dogs seems to enjoy the heat. She's a weirdo. :)

Thanks. She found my wife about 6 years ago. She was a stray who was starving and flea bitten and much of her fur was missing. She took KiKi to the vet...she was fine other than malnourished. She brought her home and put her in the garage and kept feeding her. About 10 days later we brought her in and introduced her to our blind dog.

Sweet! Rescued pets are the best, no question.
