How often is butting in and taking sides in disputes between other countries a GOOD THING? Is the track record of the USA stupendous?

Or is it stupid? What is/are/am the most splendid examples of butting in being a GOOD thing? Has the US butting in  and taking sides in the Palestine/Israel "conflict" been for the better or for the worse? Why does the US keep sticking its ENORMOUS proboscis into other countries affairs? How many times have we BACKED THE WRONG SIDE and made things worse?
