Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Have you ever said "I would die without you" to anyone? Why would you place such a heavy burden on another person?
Why? Because one is shallow and immature. Despite how the saying sounds, it really means that the one who said it is only thinking about themselves. when i hear someone say that i want to tell them to grow up!
How many of those are there tom? Don't the surgeons try to separate conjoined twins whenever possible? I know you are taking it literally. Fine with me. But in that case it would not need to be said. It would be obvious. Lots of flowery phony stuff is said "in the name of love". But when you examine it you see the zits and the birthmarks and the wrinkles and the pox marks.. I wish people would THINK before they open their yaps. SIGH. A personal irk of mine. Spewing nonsense as if it were meaningful. Thank you for your reply! :)
I went to a "straight face" answer because trying to burden me with the responsibility for your death would require my permission---and I would not allow you do so. (Generic you)
Apologies tom. What does one have to do with the other? See what I mean? I'm AC/DC. Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't. AARRGGHH! SIGH. The story of my life! :(
Not sexual preference. I'm a very narrow dull straight arrow. Moving along I am talking about Alternating current versus direct current. Sometimes I GET it (whatever the it is) and sometimes I don't. My comprehension is on an alternating current cycle. I wish it weren't. I wish it were always DIRECT CURRENT because then I'd always understand everything without having to have it ever be patiently explained to me. That's what I mean! See what I mean? I have to explain what I mean to you. Why didn't you know or are you just pulling my leg? I don't always know when I am being teased. Another thing that aggravates me about me. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday to thee! :)

But I have been on the receiving end of such a statement. Being the mean person they claim I am ... I replied with "Well, you best get your affairs in order, then."
Seriously? And the person meant it seriously? Why would anyone put that huge burden on anyone? Sheesh. I applaud your reply. Some humorist years ago said..."She said I will die without you. He said I will die without you. She moved east and he moved west and they both lived". "Nuff said! Thank you for your reply Walt and Happy Tuesday! :)
I need clarification on your reply tom. Are you saying the recipient of the burden would willingly accept it? I'm not saying he/she wouldn't. I'm saying why would anyone place such a heavy burden on a loved one? What it means to me is that you are placing your life and its furtherance on someone else's shoulders. A loving person would not do that or say that. The burden bearer may find it flattering but I do not. The burden bearer may exult in the knowledge that he/she is key to someone else's survival. I view it with contempt disdain and disgust. I think it's a very weak and very needy thing to say to anyone and I am not a fan of either weak or needy in homo saps. Would you be flattered were that said to you? Would you believe the speaker truly adored you and seriously would not want to face life without you? Would you willingly accept it? Not me. I'd be stunned and not in a good way. If something happened to you would you want your loved one to go and try to find happiness or just curl up and "die"? OK. I had my say. Thank you for your reply! :)

Since I have never had that done to me, I really can't wrap my head around that. I guess I would never be around a person who would do that for such a long time that I could be in that situation. No well-adjusted person would do that to a loved one, and I tend to avoid those who are not well-adjusted.
Sometimes you can evaluate such issues by taking them to their logical extreme. Let's say someone close to me says they would die without me. Then what happens if I fail to assure that I live at least until they die?---am I guilty of their murder at the exact moment of my death?
I would not feel bound by any deathbed requests either.
BINGO! Exactly tom! Exactamundo! Precisely! It is a very selfish self-centered ILLOGICAL thing to say to anyone. Not loving. NEEDY. AARRGGHH! Thank you for your reply. I kinda figgered it might be something like this! :)
Well in 2008 I had stage 3 cancer and was given a 14% chance of surviving 5 years! Obviously I said that to my chemo nurse and my oncologisst. It happened to be true. Thank you for your reply G-gMcM and Happy Tuesday.
