Is there ever a better response to "why did you" than "because I wanted to"? Why else do or not do unless a gun is at your head?
Ever been in that situation figuratively or literally? Where death or "death" would await you if you didn't do/say something? I can't remember ever being choiceless. You?
LOL ... that is really the only answer for most of us. Few will have had a gun to their heads to do something. I can remember as a kid, when I did something my mom was not happy about, she would sit me down at the kitchen table while she was preparing dinner and ask me, "Why did you do that?" Naturally, the most common reply was not going to fly, so I sat there like a stone. Periodically, she would turn around and say, "Well ..." After a while, she gave up and I was permitted to leave the kitchen.
It's a dumbly stoopid question to ask. "Why did you or why do you"? It's elementary Dr. Watson. You do what you do and you say what you say because you want it that way. Why is that such a difficult concept for some? Sheesh. Dumb da dumb dumb! Thank you for your reply L! :)
I was not that kind of child L. That reply would have been extremely disrespectful and somehing a cheeky twit would give and it would never occur to me to mouth off like that to my parents. Or a boss. Or anyone with whom I enjoyed a cordial relationship. Thank you for your reply! :)
The person is asking your motivation ... so "Because I want to" doesn't really answer the question. What it means is either: A) The person doesn't want to answer, or B) they don't know what motivated them.
As Dr. Phil says: How is that working for ya? In otherwords, we do things unconsciously but we are motivated somehow to do it because we have not thought it through. Awareness is necessary for change.
I disagree. If some asks WHY DO YOU ASK THE QUESTIONS YOU DO the only logical reply is "because I want to". If I didn't want to I wouldn't ask. As for the particulars unless you are brain dead the answer to why is in the question. All you have to do is pay attention Walt. That's all you have to do. If I ask a question about the chump do you really have to ask WHY? If I ask a question about the cruel inhumane treatment being giving to asylum seekers don't you KNOW WHY? Seriously. Don't you KNOW WHY I ask what I asK ? Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)
Thank you for your reply Sharon. That is never my problem. I always think about it. Now later I may change what I said because subsequent information I didn't have before is revealed. But I say that I THINK because I'm always thinking. At night I can't shut down my brain quite often. It comes with the territory of being me. I accept it.
