In that great movie GENTLEMEN'S AGREEMENT a gentile passes himself off as Jewish because he is a journalist and is writing story about what it's like to be Jewish. He lives as a Jew for 6 months and the different types of bigotry from subtle to blatant stuns him. But that pretense was PURPOSEFUL.
