    Well, duh!  A rock could outsmart trump.

    Here you have the major superpower in the entire world.  For years, every time you do something it hassles you (imposing sanctions, demanding you do things "their" way, telling you what you can and cannot do or have).  Suddenly a narcissistic boob takes control of that superpower (his kryptonite is flattery and money).  Here's your chance to get back at (and maybe even take down) that superpower.  Only a fool would pass up such an opportunity.

    Yep, all they have to do is stroke his ego and he's putty in their hands.   He's so enchanted by their flattery that it blinds him to everything else.
